Zwicker Lichtkunst

In February 1945, several funeral piles were erected at Dresden’s old market (Altmarkt), to burn the victims of the air attacks. 60 years later, the light installation SCAN 45/02, located at one of these spots, is supposed to be thought-provoking. The measured field on the ground is „cut out“ by powerful projectors from aloft, associating a scan process. This impression is intensified by an appropriate, minimal sound field, that provides the acoustic background. A historic moment, burnt into the original pavement, brought to public attention as a symbol of light.
