Location:University of Music and Theatre, Leipzig
Client:Staatsbetrieb SIB, Office Dresden II
Light technics:halogen headlights, light control system
The 12 columns at the main facade of the University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig are turned into 12 separate light sectors, according to the 12-tone technique introduced by Arnold Schönberg. The 12 headlights are controlled by the light control system, via acoustic signals or programmed by a computer. It also provides the possibility of capturing the random sounds of the street and transmitting the signals to the 12 channels of the installation, consequently staging the "sound of the city" as a light show.
