Year:2006
Location:railway bridge, Castroper Str., Bochum
Contractor:Public services Bochum/ City of Bochum
Light engineering:Light barriers, LED-modules
The idea for the light lay-out of this historical steel bridge is embedded into the context of the concept "artificial light gates" Bochum, orientating on its determination as a multi tracking street crossing rail traffic artery. Particularly as pedestrian one immediately experiences the thundering of the roaring trains as tremendous industrial sound within the bridges resonance room. For the minimalist light field LED-modules were braced at the underside by steel cables and rewired in parallel lines incorporating the grid of the bridge construction In case of an arriving train, equal from which direction it comes, a light field is real time pulled up by arriving and pulled down by the train leaving the bridge.
