Picture of the project 'Ceilings'
Year:2001
Location:Dresden, Cafe Neustadt, Bautzener Street 63
Client:Dr. Köhler, Frankfurt/Main
Architect:Alf Furkert
Light technics:fluorescent tubes, optical fiber
The ceilings of the different rooms of the cafe seem to be floating and are illuminated by opaque, elliptic light fields. They can be used, both as homogenous light plains and as linear light dots, to create a certain mood in the room. The rooms experience their metamorphosis depending on the time of day and the season by identifying the light spectrum.
